Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, auto-immune disease that requires constant monitoring and treatment adjustments. To fill an unmet need among patients and physicians managing RA, Crescendo Bioscience prototyped an app that would track daily conditions in hopes of facilitating better patient-physician communication. It was a first foray into mobile app development for the health care and life sciences company, so they turned to Pivotal Labs for design and development expertise.
Design played a crucial role in the product’s resounding success by balancing focus on patient outcomes versus clinical ones and making the app compelling, fun, and easy for patients to use in their daily lives. “Pivotal Labs quickly understood our goal and vision and translated it into an excellent app design that is not just functional and inviting, but easy to use for our target audience,” explains Sze-Ping Wong, Product Manager for Crescendo Bioscience.
